HEALTH FUTURES FOUNDATION – HEALTH CAROUSEL FOUNDATION NURSING SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM

Health Futures Foundation Inc. (HFI) is dedicated to strengthening the country’s health system through health human resource development. To address the shortage of Filipino nurses, especially in the community, and ensure the provision of high-quality nursing services in the Philippines, HFI is implementing the “Health Futures Foundation – Health Carousel Foundation Nursing Scholarship Program” with funding support from Health Carousel Foundation. The Program with scholarship program aims to support Filipino licensed nurses in pursuing graduate studies, thereby enhancing their professional development and contributing to the sustainability of the nursing workforce.

Eligibility:

Three (3) deserving applicant (hereinafter referred to as “Scholars”) to be admitted to the Nursing Scholarship Program, provided that he/she meet both the UP Open University’s admission standards and the following specific qualification as required by HFI:

  • A registered nurse in the Philippines;
  • Incoming First Year Student of Master of Arts in Nursing;
  • Working as a faculty member in nursing school with at least two (2) years of professional experience as a clinical/community nurse and/or as a faculty member nurse.

How to Apply?

Applicants who wish to apply for the scholarship must complete the following steps:

  1. Read the eligibility requirements, scholarship benefits, and documentary requirements;
  2. Prepare the required documents. Once completed, upload all required documents through https://url.upou.edu.ph/UPOU-OSASchoApplication or by scanning the QR code below. Please ensure that all submitted documents are clear, complete, and legible.

  1. Review all information and uploaded documents carefully before submitting the form. Incomplete applications or applications with missing requirements may not be considered for evaluation;
  2. All applications will be subject to evaluation and validation by the UPOU Committee on Scholarships and Financial Assistance (CSFA). Applicants will be notified of the status of their application through email.
  1. DEADLINE OF APPLICATIONS: SEPTEMBER 7, 2026

The  HFF-HCF Nursing program provides tuition and miscellaneous fees, subject to HFI’s approved budget.

SCHOLARSHIP DURATION:

The Nursing Scholarship Program shall be limited to the UPOU’s prescribed completion period of three (3) years. The scholars shall complete the program within or before the prescribed period.

SERVICE COMMITMENT AFTER GRADUATION

Upon graduation, the selected scholars shall render a RETURN SERVICE OBLIGATION for a period of three (3) years, starting within one (1) year after graduation. The monitoring and enforcement of the return service obligation shall be the sole responsibility of HFI. UPOU shall have no liability or obligation in connection therewith.

DUAL SCHOLARSHIP

External financial assistance shall not automatically disqualify the scholar, provided that all program obligations are met and that such assistance does not duplicate the benefits provided under the Nursing Scholarship Program. The scholar, through UPOU, shall disclose and submit relevant documents pertaining to any external scholarship or financial assistance for HFI’s evaluation and determination of possible duplication of benefits.

LEAVE OF ABSENCE

The scholars may request a Leave of Absence (LOA) for a maximum of one (1) academic year, provided the request is based on valid and justified grounds and is supported by official documentation. During this period, scholarship benefits shall be temporarily suspended.

SCHOLAR’S UNDERTAKING

The successful scholars shall enter into and sign a seperate Conforme with HFI, setting forth the scholar’s rights, responsibilities, and obligations under the Nursing Scholarship Program. Failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the Conforme may result in the forfeiture of scholarship benefits and/or reimbursement of scholarship funds, subject to the provisions thereof.
